DIY Thompson Submachine Gun Wooden 3D Puzzle

This wooden submachine gun was a good 4 hours to slap together. Didn’t come with the wax so a used candle was sacrificed. Everything else was slid together with ease and no issues. The wooden dowels that pop out with every shot is a nice touch. Other than that, keep the change yea filthy animal.

Nice gun to assemble and easy. Instructions are easy to read and works perfectly.

Got this for Christmas and it was a blast to put together. Had a lot of fun with it. Directions were easy to follow and the unit is put together well. Just a warning, i doubt that it would hold up to extended use for long periods. Most of the connections that hold it together are made with press together soft wood using interference joints. Remarkably sturdy all things considered but is easy to flex once put together and i imagine it will loosen up over time. Thankfully it is detailed and a beautiful piece to display.

One note is that my kit didn't come with the wax that was supposed to lubricate the moving parts. After some careful consideration, I also received some Viking Revolution beard balm that just happens to be a light wax. It worked very well!! Had to manually cycle the toy a couple times before it was freed up enough to cycle freely on its own. Once working it is remarkably fun to shoot. Even better, it now smells like sandalwood!

I received this as a gift. Returned the first one because there were missing parts. Received this one and it had everything except the wax. Used some I had here. I took my time with this after reading some of the reviews. Make sure you follow directions exactly. Finished it today and it works perfectly.

I really like this gun it was easy to put together and it shoots rubber bands it's so cool. Comes with non-dangerous rubber bands.

Very cool build from Think Puzzles. The toy wooden gun shoots many rubber bands from the front, and is capable of full auto firing. There is a faux drum magazine that is removable and includes inside a simple linear pistol type magazine inside a drum for aesthetics. The wooden dowel rod segments discharge from the case ejector port with each rubber band firing which adds a nice effect. RoWood and ROKR are my favorite manufacturers for these types of puzzle builds because the quality is very high, and the directions are well thought-through with many extra parts and clear to read directions.

I gifted this but the receiver loved it! It kept two teenagers busy for about half a day putting it together and got them interested in doing something new and fun!

This kit is beautifully made! Bought as a Christmas gift for my 10yo son. It took us around 7hrs to build & it was well worth the time & money! Was a lot of fun to do this together & he absolutely loves it. It will shoot up to 12 rubber-bands at a time. Just be CAREFUL while assembling! There are some *very* tiny pieces…don't lose any! There was a QR video code in the instructions to show video on how to assemble a couple of areas that were more tricky. The two of us built it successfully & he’s super proud of it. All-around very cool piece!

This 3D puzzle is AMAZING!!! As soon as I opened the package I knew this was going to be a blast! I love these types of challenging puzzles. First, everything was packaged very well. They did a fantastic job putting together a well-detailed instruction booklet. All of the pieces were also well labelled. This is one of the first 3D puzzles that I have put together that is interactive in the sense that you can use this to shoot rubberbands which is a ton of fun! This puzzle is also extremely detailed which is unlike other basic 3D puzzles. Overall, for the price, this puzzle CANNOT be beaten! If you are looking for a fun and yet challenging puzzle, this is the puzzle for you!

Well, we haven’t finished assembly yet to show full functionality, but this is a very well made piece. It looks incredible, extremely good detail, and looks like it’ll be a real challenge to complete assembly, but that’s the point I think! It’s not an 8 piece puzzle, it’s a very intricate design. I can’t wait for my son to finish assembling, and I’m confident that it’ll function properly simply based on the level of appearance and initial visual review. Looks awesome!

I got this for my Dad, who has been putting models together forever. Mostly planes, but recently he said what about those 3D wooden ones? Then I saw that this was an actual WORKING gun and knew he'd love it. It's by far the most fun he's had in a long time and that is worth 5 stars in my book!
